It Started With a Book…

Like many of us, I found inspiration and my passion to work in the field after reading a book related to brain disorders. I became fascinated not only with how the brain works, but how it can change, overcompensate, adjust and protect when feelings of stress are present. I find great joy in working with people who not only want to improve their situation but create long-lasting changes in the brain. In doing so, changing their responses to stresses, empowering decision making and self-advocacy and doing the hard things to bring a sense of accomplishment.

You will find that I enjoy connecting to people through their interests, passions and experiences. I like to bring a sense of humor into sessions when appropriate and treat everyone with dignity, respect and compassion. We will not just talk about your problems, but I will get to know you as a person so we can utilize those strengths to manage the less desirable parts of self, thus moving toward acceptance rather than judgement.

A little about me: I am born proud Cajun but grew up mostly in Maryland. I received my undergraduate degree from Philadelphia University in psychology with a minor in criminal justice. I then received my Master’s in Social Worked from the University of South Carolina. I have had the luxury of practicing in all levels of care since 2012 including inpatient hospitalization, outpatient group therapy, integrated care in doctor’s offices and private practice. I hold specialty credentials as a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP) and have received specialized training in OCD through the International OCD Foundation’s (IOCDF) Behavioral Therapy Training Institute. Additionally, I have received specialized training in Prolonged Exposure Therapy by the Department of Deployment Psychology. I am a member of NC OCD and the IOCDF. I currently hold licenses in North and South Carolina and have had the great opportunity to speak at events and conferences regarding anxiety, health management, OCD and mental health stigma. Lastly, I have had the privilege of being featured on Spectrum Charlotte News to educate on Virtual Reality Therapy.

Personally, you will quickly discovery that I am a massive Philadelphia and LSU sports fan. I enjoy traveling to other countries and refuse to go a day without reading. If there is not a game on, you can find me watching a movie, reading or going on a hike. At the end of the day, I genuinely enjoy being a therapist, learning about and helping people, and doing my part in challenging the stigma of mental health.

Step into a realm of healing where anxiety dissipates, obsessions fade, stress finds peace and fears unravel.
